Comfort Colors names are not always obvious. Bay is not the blue you would expect from the name, and Pepper is not black. Here is what each shade actually is.
The neutrals
- White — the cleanest of the range. The only shade where a print sits with no shift in tone at all.
- Ivory — a warm off-white with a faint yellow cast. Reads softer than white in daylight.
- Grey — a true mid grey, slightly warm.
- Pepper — a dark charcoal with a brown undertone. Often mistaken for black in photographs; in person it is clearly warmer.
- Black — a soft black rather than a hard one, which is what garment dye does to black.
The greens
- Bay — a pale, dusty sage. The most muted shade we carry and the one that reads most vintage.
- Blue Spruce — a deep forest green with grey in it. Darker than Bay by a long way.
- Seafoam — a clear teal, the most saturated color in the range. It is the shade that surprises people most in person.
The blues
- Chambray — a pale, soft blue. The lightest color after white and ivory.
- Blue Jean — a slate blue with grey in it, close to worn denim.
- True Navy — a deep navy that sits nearly as dark as black in low light.
The purples and pinks
- Violet — a mid purple, clearly saturated.
- Orchid — a pale lilac, much lighter than Violet.
- Blossom — a soft pink with warmth in it, not a cool baby pink.
- Berry — a deep plum, the darkest of this group and the closest thing to a wine shade in the range.
Colors that group well
For a family order where you want variety without a clash:
- Muted and earthy: Bay, Blue Spruce, Pepper, Ivory
- Cool and quiet: Chambray, Blue Jean, True Navy, Grey
- Warm and soft: Blossom, Orchid, Violet, Ivory
Two honest caveats
Every screen renders color differently, and garment dye shifts between production batches. The photographs on each product page are of the real shirts, but a shade will land close rather than exact, and two shirts in the same color will not match each other perfectly.
Second: not every color exists in every size. Black and white run S through 4XL; the other thirteen are carried in a narrower range. Pick a color on the product page and the available sizes appear.
